What is PDF Comparison?
PDF Comparison shows you what changed between two versions of a document. Got a contract back from your lawyer with edits? Compare it side-by-side with your original. Have two versions of a research paper and need to see what was added? PDF Compare highlights every difference — added text in green, deleted in red, changed in yellow. Frequently asked questions
Does it compare images and layout, or just text?
Currently text only — we extract text from both PDFs and diff them. Image and layout comparison requires more compute; on the roadmap. For now, text-level diff catches 95% of meaningful changes.
What if the PDFs are scanned (no text layer)?
You need to OCR them first using our PDF OCR tool — that adds a text layer. Then come back here to compare.
Can I compare PDFs in different languages?
Yes. The diff engine compares text strings regardless of language. Useful for translation review.
How big can the PDFs be?
100 MB per file, 500 pagess total combined. For huge files, compare specific page ranges by splitting first.
