Who is it for?
Freelancers, agencies, legal and finance teams, students, and anyone sharing documents that shouldn't be passed off as final or someone else's. A designer stamps DRAFT across a pitch deck before client review; a consultant brands every page of a proposal with the company logo; a law firm marks contracts CONFIDENTIAL before sending them out.

What is a PDF Watermark?
A PDF watermark is text or an image stamped across every page of your PDF — typically diagonally, semi-transparent, in the background. The most common uses: marking a document as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, branding it with your company logo, or claiming ownership of it ("Property of X Corp"). PDF7's watermark tool lets you add either text or an image watermark in seconds.
You control everything: the text content, the font size, color, opacity, rotation angle, position (center/corners/diagonal), and which pages get the watermark. The original PDF stays intact — we work on a copy so you can experiment without losing anything.
A well-placed watermark does two jobs at once: it discourages unauthorized reuse and it tells the reader the document's status at a glance. For sensitive material, a diagonal CONFIDENTIAL stamp at low opacity stays readable without hiding the text underneath, while a small logo tucked into a corner keeps a proposal on-brand from the first page. Because PDF7 stamps a real layer rather than flattening your pages, the underlying text stays selectable and searchable, so the file still works for copy-paste, screen readers, and search indexing. You can tune opacity, rotation, size, and position until the balance between visibility and readability feels right, then apply it to one page or the whole document.
Why watermark with PDF7?

No quality loss
We use real PDF watermark stamping — not "burn into image". Original PDF quality and searchable text are preserved.
Free, no watermark on watermark
Ironic but real — many free watermark tools add their own watermark too. We do not. Your watermark, alone.
Frequently asked questions
Can I remove a watermark from a PDF?
PDF watermarks added as a layer can sometimes be removed using PDF editors, but watermarks "burned in" to the page content cannot. We add proper watermark layers, which means yours can be removed if you keep the original.
Can I watermark only specific pages?
Yes. Pick "all pages", "first page only", "last page only", or a custom range like "1-3, 7, 10-15".
What format can the image watermark be?
PNG (with transparency for best results), JPG, BMP, GIF. PNG with a transparent background looks most professional.
Are my files private?
Yes. Processed in memory, deleted after download. We never log or share file contents.
Should I use a text or an image watermark?
Use text for status labels like DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, or a copyright line — it's crisp at any size and easy to tweak. Use an image when you want your brand on the page: upload a logo as a transparent PNG so the background doesn't form a solid box. For most documents a faint diagonal text stamp plus a small corner logo covers both ownership and branding.
What opacity and angle work best?
For a background stamp that doesn't fight the text, try 15-30% opacity at a 45° diagonal across the page center. For a corner logo, keep it small at 40-60% opacity so it reads as branding rather than an obstruction. There's no single right answer — the live preview lets you test values before you download.
